Invitation to Participate: CE & HL7 Da Vinci Trebuchet Prior Authorization Pilot
The Cooperative Exchange, in collaboration with HL7 Da Vinci, is launching the Trebuchet Pilot to address one of the most pressing challenges facing the healthcare ecosystem: scaling interoperable prior authorization across clearinghouse networks. This joint initiative focuses on clearinghouse‑to‑clearinghouse (CH‑to‑CH) workflows and is designed to reduce administrative burden, improve automation, and extend existing FHIR‑based prior authorization standards beyond point‑to‑point implementations. Through collaborative technical piloting, policy alignment, and security validation, the Trebuchet Pilot will demonstrate how FHIR based workflows can be operationalized at scale to better support payers, providers, and clearinghouses as the industry prepares for CMS‑0057‑F requirements.
Participation offers Cooperative Exchange members the opportunity to directly shape emerging standards, validate real‑world CH‑to‑CH architectures, and contribute to a shared implementation playbook that will inform future HL7 Da Vinci, FAST, and X12 guidance. Participants are expected to actively engage in bi‑weekly cohort meetings and contribute technical, product, and business expertise in a pilot setting.
